A completely FREE event, and the world premiere of an outdoor historical drama sharing the story of the important Battle of Kings Mountain which helped win the American Revolution, from the local perspective. Battle reenactments, live music, folk dances and professional actors and reenactors. Also features a Living History Encampment (with historical flintlock firing demo's, marching and maneuvering displays and historians on site to teach and share about daily life in the 18th Century. The performance lasts approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes with a 10 minute intermission after Act 1, and features animal-performers like dogs, goats, chickens and baby chicks on stage every performance!

Historical dramas, reenacting, live-performances, and living history exhibits are hands-down the most successful makers of long-lasting memories and deep and meaningful connections between people and our past. King of Kings was written by a local educator from Cherryville, NC, an eye-witness to the benefits of adding live-performances when teaching reading, and most important, comprehension. This completely free event will create a living breathing monument to a too-often overlooked piece of local history, and blends entertainment and education into an amazing experience for everyone who attends.
